need similar command to AIX mksysb

Latest response

In AIX we use a function called mksysb to make a complete BOOTABLE image of the rootvg. This can be stored on another system for recovery purposes. You then us this as a resource and boot from. This allows a complete system restor as it was at the time it was backed up. This has saved us a few times in the past and makes recovery much faster.

We are using a "golden image" but then have to recover home dirs and system specific info or rebuild as a new system. This is very time consuming and if we could take a once a week backup of a running system and use it to restore in case of a failure that would speed things up.

We would like to see an enhancement similar to this where were can rebuild a system using a system specific backup file. This would have all the security/networking and user home dir files and settings in it.
