I don't see any /lib64/libnss_mdns* libraries. And nothing of nss-mdns shows up in "yum search". Is mDNS name resolution still supported in RHEL 7?

yup not there. It's not mentioned in the deprecated list. Maybe it will move a way from the default channel.

nss-mdns is not offered by RHEL repositories. I suggest using EPEL repository to install it. Check this KCS solution for installing EPEL.
