RHEL 7 Screenlock

Latest response

When the screen locks in RHEL 7 (Gnome desktop) is there a way to change the gesture from "swipe up" to just "wiggle mouse or touch keyboard"?

Seems to over-complicate the unlocking of the screensaver. Not by much, but it feels an unnecessary complication nonetheless.

I'm unable to unlock the screen by typing my password at the blank screen.
If I want to see the input box, I can hit <enter>.

Jonathan Corbet was just talking about this on Google Plus this week, and got some good feedback from the Gnome developers about possible future directions. It's an interesting thread.

With my fresh RHEL 7 Beta install, I too found that just typing my password failed to open the lock.

This was odd, as on my usual Fedora install, this just works. No clicking, no action to swipe the cover, no hitting enter to get the dialogue.

The difference is that I usually set my window focus to "mouse" or "sloppy" in the tweak tool.

When I set this on the Beta, I get the same behaviour. Just start typing and the dialogue appears with my keystrokes.

Not sure if that change is acceptable to you, but if "mouse" or "sloppy" focus doesn't work for you, then one click followed by typing should be all you need.

this feature is suck

I never cared for the swipe either, but at the lock screen I can just type and hit enter. Not sure if I tweaked something or not.

It can be disabled from Settings>Privacy>Screen Lock

I am not able to configure time on screen lock.

thanks it worked for me
