php packages on RHEL 6.5 x64 limited to 2Gb upload

Latest response

Hello,

I'm very suprised that the php packages for the x64 RHEL version is not compiled with big file upload support !

Do you plan to fix this ?

Hello, base RHEL is built for stability, and this new feature in PHP 5.6 cannot be backported due to API/ABI breakages and dependencies[1].

Keep an eye on this in possible future versions of Red Hat Software Collections though!

Andrius.

What Andrius said plus: if you really need it you can still do a custom compile using the SRPM and passing the correct flags in, then build your RPM for deployment.

That's exactly what i've done, but then i need to configure yum to prevent php to be updated !

Why the latest php package in RHEL 6.5 is not compiled with the correct flag ?

Jean Christophe: As Andrius mentioned, the base packages are built for stability. Zend officially doesn't support large files until 5.6; the long term support version is 5.3 in the RHEL6 tree.

OK I understand now. Just need to wait php5.6 to be stable in RHEL 6. Many thanks.

Jean: Also keep an eye on the RHSCL channel, that's where it's likely to appear first for official builds -- while I don't encourage going outside of RHEL repos if you do need a solid and well supported community build, Remi Collet's (http://rpms.famillecollet.com/) repo is an excellent and very stable source. I use this often on SL/CentOS server builds that require newer php/mysql builds.
