Redhat subscruption manager not working

Hi folks, I am new to this forum and to redhat so just looking for some guidance.

I was attempting to simply look up my ip using the "ifconfig" and "ipconfig" commands. Neither worked. Then i read that it is necessary to run the "subscription-manager register" command but then it says that "Network error, unable to connect to server". I did some searching and it says to run "/etc/rhsm.conf?. This also did not work. I am not sure if it an error in my network settings on my VM (Virtualbox) or something else. I am also unable to ping the redhat server.

If anyone has any starting points or suggestions, I would be happy to try anything. Thank you!
