Alternative to Checkpoint for Hyper-V hosted Linux servers

Hello all

We're having an issue where we cannot create Checkpoints of our Hyper-V hosted Linux servers (mostly RHEL 7).

Our virtualization team is working to fix that issue but in the meantime we have an urgent need to patch these Linux servers and are looking for an alternative way to create a "snapshot" of them before patching.

We've looked at LVM snapshots but we want to see if there are other options that may be better.
