  • GUI broken with latest version of RHEL 7.8

    Posted on

    Hi,
Yesterday (June 16th, 2020) evening I received notification for RHEL updates on my RHEL laptop. I went ahead with the update and next day morning when I logged into my RHEL laptop, I see that
1> On top right corner where I use to get log off or shut down button, date info, and other shortcuts like setting all gone missing.
2> On left top corner I used to get option to access all installed tools, they all are gone missing.
3> I observed that when I open chrome browser, on top right corner of the browser I have minimize, restore, close button, of these only close button working (the same behavior with PDF files too ), as a result i am not able to go back to desktop until i close the browser completely
4> Similarly if I have two applications opened side by side for example, a document opened and the default Terminal window , If I click on Terminal window and type anything then, what ever I type it gets typed on document instead of Terminal.

Not sure how to fix this issue.

My system and OS details are as below.
    Icon name: computer-laptop
    Chassis: laptop
    Operating System: JBoss
    CPE OS Name: cpe:/o:redhat:enterprise_linux:7.8:GA:server
    Kernel: Linux 3.10.0-1127.10.1.el7.x86_64
    Architecture: x86-64

    Thanks
    Ani.
