How to remove failed RHN Satellite installation ?

Latest response

Hi all,

I have just installed RHN Satellite but forgot about "--external-db" option and it tried to install embedded database (and failed for lack of storage space). I just want to run the installer again but with external db option. Can I remove the RHN Satellite somehow ?

Sorry you haven't see a response to this question from the community yet. Just trying to track down an answer for you - shouldn't be long.

Based on
https://access.redhat.com/site/solutions/43078
it's not supported to migrate from an embedded database to external, but it is possible if you want to try that.

Since you're asking about just removing the satellite, I suggest that you reinstall the operating system. It takes only an hour to install the base OS and since a Satellite system should have only Satellite running on it, the amount of customization done afterwards should be minimal. While the install.pl does have
--clear-db
Clear any pre-existing database schema before installing. This
will destroy any data in the Satellite database and re-create
empty Satellite schema.

I like to have things installed cleanly from the beginning for systems I plan for production.

Thanks
Pete

In the end I just repeated installation process with correct parameters and it succedeed.
