Hello CGR Vogel,

You have two options to extend the volumegroup, either extend /dev/sda2 or created partition /dev/sda3 and add it the volumegroup.

vgs

will show you the name of the volumegroup, e.g vg00

vgextend vg00 /dev/sda3 will add the diskspace to the volumegroup.

lvs

will show the name of the logical volumes, e.g. lvroot vg00

then lvxtend -r -L +5G /dev/vg00/lvroot

will extend the logical volume and the filesystem on it.

If you want to extend the swapspace.

lvextend -L +5G /dev/vg00/lvswap

The next step needs all application to be shutdown:

 swapoff /dev/vg00/lvswap
 mkswap /dev/vg00/lvswap
 swapon /dev/vg00/lvswap
