RHEL 8.0 Desktop AARCH64

Latest response

Hi;

When I install RHEL8.0 AARCH64 from the binary DVD I don't see the 'Server with GUI' option. Installs fine but no desktop.

How do I enable / install gnome on RHEL 8.0 AARCH64?

Thanks,
Eric

Hello Eric. Follow this guide.

Hi Eric,

GNOME might be a bit too "heavy-weight" for an ARM based device, but if you want to try it, execute the following commands. :)

sudo dnf group install GNOME
sudo systemctl set-default graphical.target
sudo reboot

GNOME is not available on RHEL 8.0 for either aarch64 or s390x. GNOME is only available on x86_64 and ppc64le

I do not know if it will be available on aarch64 in future RHEL 8 releases.

Thanks for this information, Troy ! Didn't know that until now ... I'm using the x86_64 architecture. :)
