RHEL 7.5 server on mid 2010 MacBook Pro issue

Latest response

Hi, I am trying to install RHEL server on a mid 2010 MacBook Pro i7 OS X is erased and I just want to use RHEL. I tried installing it from a USB drive, and I can’t get past a screen that ends with “Depend” dependency failed for anaconda text console. I attached a picture of it also.

I reset the PRAM on the MacBook, and I get a black screen, with a arrow, and it looks like it is trying to start the installer, and it’s stuck. It looks like the screen you get for the Anaconda installer.

Hi GD,

Press the "E" key after starting the MacBook and add the parameter nomodeset at the end of the line beginning with "linux" before booting. Then press Ctrl + X to boot ... hope that this can solve the problem, please report back if it worked - I wish you good luck. :)

Hi, thanks for your reply. I tried that, and when pressing Ctrl and x it just types x and does not boot. Not sure what to do?

Hi GD, you can alternatively press "F10" to boot ... although this is not a good sign, the Ctrl key should work. :)

Thanks very much for your help! Your solution worked wonderfully! I was finally able to get the installer to come up and install successfully! :)

Hey GD, that's great news ! I'm glad that the solution worked for you and that the installation was successful. :)
