Setting up system as a client in IPA

With RHEL 6 and up is it possible for a client to join an IPA domain WITHOUT using the ipa-client binary?

I know that in RHEL 5 it was possible as per the documentation link below:

It should be possible with "ipa-client-install" command, check this page for reference https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/6/html/identity_management_guide/installing_the_ipa_client_on_linux

Thanks for replying @sadashiva. I actually meant to ask is it possible to add a client machine to an ipa domain WITHOUT using the "ipa-client-install" command script and manually doing it?
