Spaces allowed in passwords

Latest response

With Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Update 1 is it possible to avoid the use of spaces in user's password?

Hi Alessandro,

Not sure what you mean, of course it is possible - simply don't type a space ... my passwords do not contain any spaces. :)

ahahah :-) Is it possible to set a rule (or a configuration) in order to deny the use of spaces when an user wants to change his password? For example: 1) The minimum acceptable size for the new password is configurable in /etc/security/pwquality.conf 2) If you want to keep history of passwords used, you have to edit the following files /etc/pam.d/system-auth and /etc/pam.d/password-auth 3) So on...

To be honest Alessandro, I have no idea, but the approach above seems to lead into the right direction.
Well, I don't know how to configure "without spaces" in /etc/security/pwquality.conf ... unfortunately. :)

Christian
