YUM repository and SSL

Latest response

Hi,

I looked in many sources but nowhere is explained what exactly is encrypted with SSL enable yum repo. Does it only encrypt the metadata? What about the rpm pkgs per se?

I need an entirely encrypted communication between the repo and the client and SSL seems reasonable. Is that achievable?

If your repository is served from an SSL enabled web share (HTTPS) the entire transaction (pkgs & metadata) would be encrypted per the protocol.

Thanks! Can you provide me some reference from official documentation? I write my master thesis and would be nice to include this with reference.
