Does Libvirt (qemu-kvm-rhev) support auto-ballooning ?

Latest response

Hello Friends,

does anyone know if KVM/qemu suport automatic memory ballooning and if yes - which man page/docu describes the setup.
As I don't see it in Virt-Manager I assume that the GUI doesn't support it.

In the GUI, the "Resource Allocation" tab of a VM (advanced settings) displays under Memory Allocation: "Memory Balloon Device Enabled" with a checked state by default.

So, then why the KVM is not returning resources automatically to the Host , once they are no longer needed ?

Strahil, it is not returning because automatic ballooning might not have been enhanced for the version you are using. Here is the link to the document which will help you understand further.

You may also refer to this bugzilla:995420 for the issue you are facing.

Hope this will help.
