I need help with the setting up of an automated ftp script.. namely how to read in a file with multiple ip's and ftp them.

By 'ftp them', can you be more specific? Do you want to upload/download files? or just launch ftp for manual interaction?

Parsing a text file of IP's and running a command against them is straightforward, depending what you want to do with ftp may make it a little more complex.
