Expanding the C: Partition for a Direct-Attached LUN
Microsoft Windows has a way of filling up the C:\ partition, but few native tools to deal with a full volume. I have a Server 2008r2 machine with a 36GB volume directly attached to a RHEV VM via my RHEV cluster nodes. I have expanded this volume, via my Storage Area Network, to 50GB. However, the RHEV manager indicates that this volume is still at 36GB. What do I need to do to get RHEV to see the additional disc?
I have tried shutting down my VM, deactivating the LUN, and reactivating it, to no avail. The RHEV manager still sees only 36GB, and so the VM's host OS only sees 36GB. If is saw 50GB, I would be easily able to expand into it.
So, what do I need to do to get RHEV to see the additional disc?

Hi Robert,
It is some years ago since I did a RHEV training, so my questions might be outdated.
What type of disk do you use for the Windows server?
Are they virtual disks or attached LUNs?
For virtual disks you need to extend the "disk file" after assigning the extra space on the LUN.
You may need a support case to get help for this.

Hi Robert,
Please see the following Knowledge Article which walks you through putting the Storage Domain into Maintenance Mode, increasing the NFS box then re-activating the Storage Domain. If for some reason this does not work please open a new support case and my team will be able to investigate it. Please note that presently 4.0 and 4.1 are the only fully supported versions of RHV as 3.x was retired back in Sept. of 2017.
