CL210 10.1 PDF Study Book & Video Course
Hi,
Is there a study book as PDF and video course for the CL210 10.1 course?

Stavros

Hi Stavros Tsirakidis,
I just downloaded the pdf study book from the CL210 course. I don't know what version of OpenStack they are using. They may not (likely are not) using the most current version available to consumers. It takes months to generate a new course. That being said, I was able to download the one that's available, and I did not see a version "10.1" course as you mentioned. When I downloaded the pdf book, here's what I did:
(you may have already done this, sorry if this is being master of the obvious, this is also intended to help others find a book for their course.)
- Log into https://rol.redhat.com
- Scroll down to
CL210 Red Hat OpenStack Administration IIcourse and click on it - Two links appear after clicking on it per the step in the line above, select the link named
Video Classroom(useLaunch, NOTE: look for a red button) - Wait for the compulsory introduction video to finish playing, takes 10 to 15 seconds...
- Finally, the actual video course appears and you will notice five icons at the top of the video, IMPORTANT Look for the icon that resembles a book, in
mybrowser, it is the one in the middle and click that icon. - A menu appears upon clicking the "book icon" and you must select one of the available languages it offers, it is a drop-down menu, pick the language you wish.
- A pop-up window appears (you may have to enable pop-ups in your specific web browser which differs from one web browser to another) allow it the time to generate your pdf book, as it creates one with watermarks with your account information, wait for a little bit.
- Finally, save the book as a pdf onto your computer or tablet.

Currently, PDFs are a feature of the Video Classroom modality classes. If there is not a Video Classroom for the version of content you want or just not a Video Classroom for the class at all, there is no offer to download a PDF of the course content.
At some point, this may change. My goal is to offer both PDF and HTML content across all modalities, and we recently got approval from our biz folks to offer PDF content in the "Online Training" modality. Now we just need to do the work to put it in there. Of course, we have a pile of other things we're working on as well, so keep an eye out, or check the releases thread every few weeks...

Stavros,
Make sure you're looking at the same version of materials for both modalities.
Both VC and Online Training modalities have an OpenStack 8 version and a 10 version. The VC uses the same materials as the Online Training course, which means the exericses between them should be identical. If that is not what you're experiencing, I would guess that you're watching the verison 8 of the Video Classroom, but looking at the verison 10 manual.
Classes that have multiple versions will have a "Versions" pulldown selector in the upper right-hand side of the page when you enter the course.
Lastly, if you are an RHLS-Standard user, you should not use rol.redhat.com directly. That is the RHLS-Basic portal. Mix and matching using the two portals is likely what has gotten your enrollment in your class now reporting as 'retired'. The 'retired' error happens when we are unable to establish an enrollment in a class for you. Normally, this would happen if the course has entered it's retirement phase where we've stopped accepting additional enrollments in the soon-to-be-retired class. However, if you've established an enrollment in a course by using the RHLS-Basic portal (rol.redhat.com), when you try to access it using the RHLS-Standard UI, the back-end will be unable to create an enrollment for you, and you'll get a 'retired' error as a result. You should open a support case using access.redhat.com so they can try to unmangle what may be the state of your CL210 enrollments.
