Online Lab - Set Location?

Latest response

My labs are defaulting to a server in Europe, and I'm in US.
Any way to set the default location?

TIA

Robert, is there any chance you're using a VPN service?

I looked through what settings I could fish through in my own RH Online Learning and did not find anything to set a specific location. I believe you can change languages, such as in the course overview, there's a filter you can change (in your case) the language to English. That being said, as far as the location setting goes, if needed, open a case with Red Hat because Red Hat Online Learning is a supported product.

  • Go to this link: https://access.redhat.com/support/cases/, which is at the top of this page too, named SUPPORT CASES.
  • In the Product drop down, select: Red Hat Online Learning (NOTE: You will need to scroll down through a list in the drop-down menu)
  • Important, in the Product Version drop down, select the largest number (as I type this, it is 1.0, but that may change over time) NOTE: the "Submit" button won't activate until this is selected.
  • In the Case Type drop down, select: Other
  • In the Problem Statement block, enter something concise, the course number, and a small description.
  • In the Case Description block, enter the specifics.

The other blocks are straightforward enough. When I've submitted a ticket for Red Hat Online Learning, I make it a low priority, it certainly is not production. One of the course administrators does on occasion check the forum, but you ought to submit a ticket for this issue since this is supported.

Robert,

I second R. Hinton's suggestion to open a support case.

We try to geo-colocate labs with the user. Generally, this provides better throughput and less latency to the environments, which makes the experience better. There are some classes that are offered in a much smaller sub-set of regions, so it is possible that one could still see a mis-match for some classes between the generally assigned geography and the geography you get for a specific class.

The mechanism we use for the geo-colocation is the country code passed to the back-end systems from your order. I've seen where multi-nationals do an order out of a specific geography, which will then cause all their subsequent entitlements associated with the order to also be based in that geography.

The Terms and Conditions for the product state that one will consume where one purchases, but it's possible that our targeting or some other technical reason caused you to be located in Europe.
