Where is Client Desktop version?

Latest response

I'm trying to find my client download version for RHEL 7.4, and I keep getting directed to Server edition, and I don't want that. So where is the client desktop version? I currently have the client desktop version downloaded but for some reason when I go to boot off USB with it I just get isolinux.bin corrupted error message, and I want to redownload the client desktop version again to make sure it wasn't a bad image download. I used the Fedora Media Writer on Windows 10, but apparently that threw some errors after writing the image to the USB stick when it couldn't verify the image had been burned correctly, and refused to show the USB under Windows again, so I had to boot into my USB copy of Linux Mint to fix the USB stick, by re-partitioning it and re-formatting it to msdos FAT32.

Why's it so hard to find the specific version of RedHat? Even just searching for it from Google directs me to some links, but then just directs me to server editions, and I can't find it in my account details, even though I've already purchased RHEL Client Desktop for $49, and now I can't find that download again to re-download it.

https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/68/ver=/rhel---7/7.4/x86_64/product-software is the link to the desktop version.

In normal flow, go to Downloads > select Red Hat Enterprise Linux > Choose the product variant .

To me, it shows only the various Server variants: regular, Extended Update/LifeCycle, IBM z Systems, Power, Atomic Host, SAP HANA, and so on. I cannot see the Desktop or Workstation variant at all.

I know we don't have any desktop/workstation subscriptions, so if the menu is sensitive to the subscriptions the user or his/her company has, that might explain it.

For the original poster: if you have several RedHat accounts, make sure you log in to access.redhat.com with the same account that was used to register your current desktop version, as only an account with a desktop subscription on it may be authorized to download the desktop ISO.

Hi Matti,

I just want to confirm that you assume it correctly, only those variants are offered you are allowed to install and use.

Cheers :)
