RHEL 7.3 yum RHEL 6 RPMs
Hello!
I have a 64 bit RHEL 7.3 needing to run a 32 bit application according to the applications customer service. Customer service gave me a list of RPMs needed but they are "el6" which I assume stands for RHEL 6.
This is for a stand alone system so I do a "yum install --downloadonly" and it says that it isn't available for any of the RPMs.
How do I go about getting the information to input into the redhat.repo file to successfully yum RHEL 6 RPMs?
Thanks!

Though it would be possible to install provided proper repositories are available on the system, it is not a best practice or suggested since while installing a different release version package it would tend to resolve dependency which in turn would pull out many packages and finally it would be a big mess. So, as Red Hat says it is not supported. But I'm still confused about how come your application vendor suggested to install a different release packages.
Though RHEL7.x can only be installed on 64-bit hardware platform, you could install 32-bit packages if required. If those packages are native then they would be available, otherwise in EPEL repos. Could you let me know the name of those packages (32-bit) for which you've been trying to install? I can check if those are natively available or you may have to ask the application vendor and get it from their site and install it.
Hi, That is certainly RHEL6.x based packages and as you are aware installing packages of el6 on el7 not supported. If you really wish to install those packages compatible in el7 then you may search on your system and install those available.
Your vendor might have suggested those packages thinking that your system is RHEL6.x, so you may have to ask them to provide the required packages for RHEL7.x platform.
I just did a check on my test vm system running RHEL7.4 and I could find them available (get the repos configured), bundled along with ISO:
