RH403 Red Hat Satellite 6 Admin Lab Code

Latest response

Hi, I am trying to install Satellite in the Lab environment for RH403. The first option given is to check subscription manager, subscribe to the correct pool, enable the repos and install .. problem is that there is no subscription pool to subscribe to. The second option is to install from a mounted iso image, of which I cannot find the listed iso on the Lab system. What am I missing ? am sure its something simple but for the life of me I can't work out what. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark,

Maybe I'm wrong here, however I get the idea that discussing material from RH Learning Subscription might not be kosher in the public Red Hat forum. Please consider opening a case https://access.redhat.com/support/cases/#/case/new with Red Hat training here at the customer portal . If you have a subscription to it, it's a supported product for you.

That being said, the channels in question may or may not necessarily be available in the lab environment, and in principle, consider using the disconnected method of installation. Skip to the end of the chapter and examine the solution as well.

on your desktop system, open a web browser to the available server where the ISO is supposed to be parked (see your student documentation for the URL). Navigate to the location where the iso is supposed to be (pub directory perhaps, not the file itself to start with). Look for the iso file in question, right-click with your right mouse button and select "copy link" (something like that) then use "wget" with the link you just copied (change https to http if needed).

make sure your server/desktop are up and running. Additionally, if needed, reset both of them. Compare what the solution at the back of the chapter says.

Talking Learning Subscription content is fine, though for technical issues, I think customers would find faster resolution by filing a support case against the "Red Hat Online Learning" product ID. If you are a Red Hat Online Training customer, you might consider posting the the Red Hat Online Learning discussion. Our community manager pays attention to the other discussion forum and meta-moderates me to chime in on threads she thinks could benefit from my unique mix of snark and factliness.

The Online lab has everything one would need to find success with the instructions in a lab section of the manual. Classes are broken into "Lecture" or "Content" sections and activity sections. The content sections generally have prose, examples, and some video content on a topic. The activity sections are the labs or quizzes where we ask you to do things. If I had to guess, I would think that maybe you're looking at a content section where they're talking about all the ways one could install satellite. We do an iso based install in the lab; and the instructions for accessing that iso are also included in the lab.
