Atomic Subscription required for RH270R ?

Latest response

I started looking at RH270 as it looked interesting and the direction I wanted to take my training. Early on it looks like an actual/live RHEL Atomic subscription with Red Hat is required for the coursework.

Am I missing something?

Hi Jon,

Yes, a product subscription is required for this course, however, we've retired RH270R. Take a look at DO180 to see if that fits your needs, it's the replacement for RH270R. If it does not, please open a support case using the Red Hat Customer Portal.

Thanks Scott!

At one time RH270 was mentioned on the information for the EX270 exam.

It sounds like DO180 is the intro that leads into DO280/EX280. DO180 does look great and I'll start with that, but if I were to look into taking the EX270 exam, would the best course of action be to run through the old RH270 material as well? It sounds like some things are in flux.

That course does not even mention Atomic hosts. How can that be a replacement course? Why do you not have any training Atomic Host? Is the exam changing? Is Red Hat de-emphasizing Atomic - Hosts? The exam says it is based on

This exam is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host 7.

Marcus,

I can't speak to Red Hat as a whole, only Red Hat Training course content. The team that writes and maintains exams is a companion, but separate team from the training content and online platform team on which I work. Any decisions about exam availability or content of the exam should be directed to them.

You are correct that DO180 does not include content on Red Hat Atomic Host. Atomic Host is not currently covered by training in the Red Hat Training content portfolio. The majority of the content from RH270 was on managing containers and their content. It turns out, this was a required skill for the OpenShift platform as well and we had duplicative content in the OpenShift/DevOps courses as a result. The decision was made to create a new course, one that was a pre-requisite for the OpenShift Admin and Development courses, which included this majority of overlapping content from OpenShift and RH270 courses.
