Hi Tayeb,

GNOME is not meant to be used with elevated privileges (as root) at all and that's the reason why some things appear differently.
It is strongly recommended to NOT run GUI applications as root, many things might break ... so, run GNOME only as normal user !

Hi Tayeb,

I guess that you received a yum error message about "broken dependencies" before, why else would you choose the --skip-broken option ? From your other posts in the last days I assume that you messed up a lot of things, so the fastest way to solve your problems is most probably to start over from scratch and reinstall the operating system.

thak you Christian Labisch

what about this Package 1:NetworkManager-config-server-1.8.0-0.4.rc3.el7.noarch already installed and latest version Warning: Group guest-agents does not have any packages to install. is it a problem Package ibus-gtk3-1.5.3-13.el7.x86_64 already installed and latest version Package ibus-gtk2-1.5.3-13.el7.x86_64 already installed and latest version both at the same time installed?

Hi Tayeb,

The information you receive simply means that the newest versions of those packages are already installed ... it is not clear to me what you're trying to achieve here, so unfortunately I'm not able to help you further at this point - sorry. :)

Christian

Hi Tayeb,

Having both gtk versions installed side-by-side is absolutely okay, because some applications depend on gtk2, others on gtk3 and I have both installed on my systems too. Sorry for the late answer, I just forgot to mention this yesterday.

Cheers :)

Hi Christian Labisch your last reply answered my question thank you

Hi Christian Labisch when i switch to KDE i can open that GNOME Control Center which is [settings] system settings normally but with GNOME it did not open i think that the KDE is has control of gdm!!! i am not sure how to deal with that ... if you can explain me how to manage gdm custom.conf thank you

Hi Tayeb,

Although it is possible to install various desktop environments side-by-side, it is not recommended. Like in your case many things can go wrong. Better choose which environment you like most and install only that one. As I said before, the best for you would be to start over from scratch, because it takes less time than trying to fix various broken stuff.

Cheers :)
Christian

Hi Christian Labisch start over from scratch is big problem cause i am working on my server and almost all required softwares installed if i start from scratch all will be lost so that is not my favour t approach . i need way to fix problems without losing any work . thank you.
