hello Ramanjk,

This not a pure Red Hat Enterprise Linux issue, most HP hardware need specific drivers which are not supplied to Red Hat. You need to check on the HP support website whether or not Red hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is supported.

Also if RHEL is supported, it might only be supported for Workstation and not for Server. So check these details. At first glance it looks like HP does not support Linux for these nootbooks.

Kind regards,

RHEL Server is superset of other variants.

If a computer is certified to run RHEL, it is certified for any variant, not to a specific variant.

hello Kwon Hei Tsang,

I am sorry I have to disagree with your statement. HP support does not certify all hardware for RHEL server, RHEL workstation or RHEL desktop. They target hardware classes for a specific variant. There hardware drivers are not tested for all 3 variants.

I checked in more detail and this laptop type: HP ay503tx has no Linux support at all. Also Ubuntu is not supported.

Jan Gerrit Kootstra

Red Hat has explained that hardware certification is awarded per version and architecture pair, not the variant. Also, the variants share a common core, certifications apply to all variants of the same version and architecture.

The problem is there is no HP laptop certified.

You should probably give the error message/actual problem you see, rather than just saying that it does not install.
