RHN to RHSM backend package
I am looking at the Red Hat documentation related to transition of RHN to RHSM and I see that they are suggesting to install "spacewalk-backend-2.3.3-46.el6sat.noarch" for Satellite 5.7. I have "spacewalk-backend-2.3.52-1.el6.noarch" which i think is the latest one. Now, I am confused whether this newer version should work or I have to downgrade to "spacewalk-backend-2.3.3-46.el6sat.noarch" ?

Shisheer,
A later version number of the spacewalk-backend package should be OK, but the version number you quote seems higher than expected.
Please provide the output of the following command, which will confirm the version number of the spacewalk-backend package that is currently installed.
rpm -q spacewalk-backend
Please also provide output of the following command. This will provide information about the spacewalk-backend package currently installed, also information about any later version of the spacewalk-backend package which may be available.
yum info spacewalk-backend
Shisheer,
To answer your question: no, that error message is not related to the version of spacewalk-backend. I think the version of spacewalk-backend you currently have installed is OK.
The error message states that it was expecting the Satellite certificate (Satellite-5.7.cert) to have been in the directory /root, but it was not there. You will have downloaded the certificate to a file, but where did you save it to, and with what name? The rhn-satellite-activate step is important. You need to obtain the certificate file and either copy it to the /root directory, or another directory, and re-run the rhn-satellite-activate command, but this time provide the full path to the certificate file.
For example, if you downloaded the certificate file to directory /home/admin, the rhn-satellite-activate command should be as follows.
rhn-satellite-activate -vvv /home/admin/Satellite-57.cert
Shisheer,
This discussion overlaps with your other discussion, RHN to RHSM migration certificate issue. As Sam Wachira said in his reply to that thread, one of the prerequisites to the RHN -> RHSM migration is to download the Satellite certificate from the Red Hat Customer Portal.
I should have asked earlier in this discussion, but in migrating Satellite from RHN -> RHSM you should refer to the following article: Preparing Satellite 5 systems for Red Hat Network's End of Life. This information is in the process of being added to the Red Hat Satellite 5.x documentation. Until that is completed, this is the best source of information.
I'm confused by your mention in the other discussion that you already have Satellite 6.1 registered. The rhn-satellite-activate tool is only used in migrating the Satellite product registration from RHN to RHSM, I'm worried that you are trying to use it on a Satellite 6.1 server.
At this point I would suggest you raise a support case with Red Hat Support. If you would prefer to continue this discussion, that's OK, but raising a support case would get this problem solved sooner.
