Reusing subscriptions

Latest response

Hello,
Is it possible to reuse a subscription? My company currently has a contract with 20 desktop subscriptions available. During testing some installations are no longer needed and are removed from the subscription manager. Currently I have 3 physical systems and 1 virtual system in use however my portal states that I have 7. All of the installs that were removed were done through the manager portal itself, not within the RHEL OS.
Are those 3 subscriptions able to be recovered for additional use?
Thanks.

Larry,

Product subscriptions can certainly be re-used. Subscriptions are limited only by the maximum number of active subscriptions. An active subscription entitles a system to use one or more Red Hat products.

If the subscriptions were removed from the systems, their subscriptions should already be available for re-use.

Please confirm your subscriptions' status. Log in to the Red Hat Customer Portal, and navigate to Subscriptions. The Subscriptions page lists all your subscriptions, their total quantities, and the current usage of each subscription.

If the usage shown in the Subscriptions page does not match what you think it should be, I recommend you then look at the Systems page. This lists all systems which have been registered with Red Hat Subscription Manager, and the number of subscriptions attached to them. If any of the systems you removed are listed here, and have subscriptions attached, click the check boxes beside their names, then click [Remove]. To confirm this has corrected the subscriptions usage, navigate again to the Subscriptions page.

If the Subscriptions page is still incorrect, please contact Red Hat Support.
