crontab -e not working (no crontab for root - using an empty one)

Latest response

I haven't been able to resolve this issue that I am having. Whenever I enter the crontab -e (as root) I get the following message:
No crontab for root -using an empty one /tmp/crontab.wPjrsl : Read-only file system

It looks like rour /tmp FS is mounted read-only. Check the fstab/mtab and also if you use tmpfs for /tmp
