How can I add RHEL 7 repo for RHEL clients in Spacewalk ( Red Hat Satellite 5.7 ) ?

Latest response

I want to manage few Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 machines via Spacewalk. What's the process of registering machines to the Spacewalk and subscribe those machines to the RHEL 7 repo?

We're running Sat6 and it's been a while since I've dealt with Sat5 but, as I recall, the process is generally the same as for RHEL6 systems. Is there a particular issue that you're running into?

Basically: -Set 'serverURL=/XMLRPC' in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date $ mv /usr/share/rhn/RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT{,.orig} $ wget --insecure https://<your_satellite_server/pub/RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT -o /usr/share/rhn/RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT $ rhn_register -Follow prompts to register This assumes you've already sync'd the RHEL7 repositories that you need. If so your system should automatically be added to the base RHEL7 channel.

Thanks for the response. I already added the RHEL 7.2 machines on Spacewalk. I just want to add this repo (rhel-7-server-rpms/7Server/x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Server (RPMs) for the latest Red Hat packages and subscribe the machines to this repository. You said sync the RHEL7 repositories, but when I run sync, i do not see the repositories for RHEL7, I could only see the repositories for RHEL6. My version of satellite server (Spacewalk) is 5.7

See this article (https://access.redhat.com/solutions/58762). You have to find the repository you want and enable it to be sync'd.

Do I need to change anything while adding a RHEL 7 repo to Spacewalk which is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.8 ?
