Group Installs for high avalability not working

Latest response

Hello,
I am configuring a system for proprietary software that requires RHEL 6.7.
I am attempting to follow the RHEL6 Cluster Administration guide and it instructs to use the following command to install needed packages:

yum groupinstall 'High Availability' 'Resilient Storage'

Yet I get the following errors:

Warning: Group ha does not have any packages.
Warning: Group Resilient Storage does not exist.
No packages in any requested group available to install or update

Not certain I need the resilient storage group, but the HA group is desired.

I can install and have installed individual components like:
yum install rgmanager luci

I believe I am properly subscribed, for here is the output from subscription manager.

Responses

Darrell, try "yum repolist all" - I suspect you have some repos disabled.

Hello Laura, Thank you for that response. It seems that I have the proper repositories enabled so I continued my search. This is my first experience with RHEL and HA so I believe that I may be misunderstanding the output from yum. When I performed a "yum grouplist" it lists "High Availability" and "High Availability Management" under installed groups. So, I guess yum responds with:

Warning: Group ha does not have any packages.

when no packages are available because they are already installed? Not sure whether I am reading the yum output correctly, but it at least appears that I have all the packages installed that I will need.

Thanks again, Darrell

   Hardware monitoring utilities
   High Availability
   High Availability Management
   Input Methods
          ...

If you got the required groups installed then you could verify if packages are installed. So, you could check if you got HA packages such as "cman, rgamanger, clvmd etc.,". I usually prefer to run "yum install rgmanager" on a plain system which would pull out all dependencies and rest of HA packages to be installed.

Thank you for that response. Yes, I believe the necessary HA packages have installed correctly.
