remote desktop to an active user session via vncserver

Latest response

I am running tigervnc server on my rhel 7 server. I created an user and set the user to allow vnc. I then installed a tigervnc viewer on my windows 7 PC. when I remote into the rhel 7 server, I logged into a new session. What I want is to log into an active user session. can someone please tell me if this can be done?

Hello, so what you want to see is the existing users desktop. This is described in the System Administrator's Guide in Sharing an Existing Desktop.

By default, a server does not have a graphical desktop installed. Have you already installed that? Sounds like you have, just checking.

Hi, thank you for the reply. I installed the graphical desktop during the initial OS installation process. I then installed and configured the vncserver (tigervnc) per the admin guide and also setup a user account. when I try to remotedesktop into the server from my windows 7 machine using tigerVNC Viewer, I can log into the server desktop, but it is a new session, not the active user session I can see from the server UI. please let me know if additional info I can provide.

Thanks, -LuWen
