Red Hat firewall app question

Latest response

Hi, I am running Red Hat Server on a desktop at home for general computing, not for a server. I would like to know if the firewall should be set to "drop" in the zone section please? Thanks, and have a great day! :)

Setting a zone to "drop" means that no incoming connections will be allowed. Only outgoing traffic will be able to go through. That's probably not what you want for your home computer. By default, the "public" zone is selected, but for a home workstation, I suggest you choose the "home" zone.

See the Security Guide's section about firewalld for an explanation of the concept of zones and instructions on how to configure and use them.
