gconf-editor

Latest response

Hello all,

In RHEL 7, there seems to be no settings to remove the home and trash icon from the desktop. How can that be done please?

Thank you.

Hi Gregory ! :)

In the GNOME 3 environment you should not see desktop icons, so it seems you are using the GNOME Classic desktop environment. In dconf-editor (not gconf-editor) go to : org -> gnome -> nautilus -> desktop and un-check "home-icon-visible" and "trash-icon-visible".
When gconf-editor was not a typo and dconf-editor is not already installed, install this tool by executing : sudo yum install dconf-editor.

Hi Christian,

Got the dconf-editor package installed and followed your instructions above, worked like a charm. Thank you, cheers.!

You're welcome, Gregory ! :) I am glad that we could achieve what you wanted.
