RHEL 7 installation doesn't start in Virtual Box Windows 10 Enterprise

Latest response

Hello everyone, I am trying to install rhel-server-7.2-x86_64-dvd in virtualbox but once i choose the iso image and start eh installation nothing happens. I get teh blank screen.

I have played around with some setting and try searching on internet but was not able to find the solution. I have played around with some setting for network but did not worked out. My Operation system is Windows 10 enterprise 64 bit. The version that i downloaded is above for the windows 64 but still its not working.

There is one link mentioned about setting for PAEEenabled, I was not able to do that because i do not have admin rights on the system. 9Is it really important to set this ?)
I have attached the log and Virtualbox setting.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You have chosen "Red Hat (32-bit)" as the Operating System. But your RHEL 7.2 is 64-bit. Try installing from scratch with "Red Hat (64-bit") selected.

Thanks so much for the reply. I think maybe that's the problem but when I downloaded the virtual box for windows 10. its not giving me the option for Red Hat(64-bit) to choose from.

In any case here is what I did. I installed VMware virtual machine and tried it then I got the exact error of Error: This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled.

Then I rebooted my system using F1 and went to the security options and inside that you will see virtualization option and I enabled it. Once I enable I was able to boot the red Hat.

I have installed red hat on VMware virtual machine. But still the virtualbox is not working.

Any how I will close this thread. Thanks so much.

Hi,

two possible reasons since you already checked the VT-x:

  1. Enabled Hyper-V

  2. VirtualBox was not installed as administrator.
