VM instance high availability

I may sound a stupid question, but... Should a compute node fail, how OpenStack provides HA - high availability for the existing instances that were running in the failed compute node? I mean, is it there any process to auto launch the VMs in another available compute or I need an additional Red Hat product for such HA or I must manually relaunch all instances?
