Smartcards that work with RHEL and where to buy?
I foolishly bought some "test smartcards" off from eBay. I recently received a bunch of Atmel AT88SC153 cards and spent most of the night trying to get them to work. I'm thinking that they aren't supported . . . Redhat lists some cards that will work, but I can't find them anywhere. Anyone had luck with purchasing smartcards for RHEL?

Hello Matthew,
we have published some articles about smart cards [1] [2] recently. I hope it could help a little bit.

To be honest, I haven't checked contemporary offers, but you should be able to buy (and use) some from the list of supported (and mentioned in those articles).
Kind regards,

As far as I searched around for the support for these cards, I didn't find any note about these cards nor the technology. If any tool supports them, it would be OpenSC, which you should certainly give a try.
Also using Smart Cards is not only about plugging them in the computer and expect they will work. Such cards needs to be often initialized, provisioned, keys generated, all PINs set and so forth. The manufacturer usually provides a tool to do that, but as noted above, I was not able to find any. Note, that the cards are marked as end of production cycle (datasheet dats back to 2007).
Anyway, Yubikey is not selling exactly Smart Cards, but USB dongles with PIV module, which works as a standard Smart Card in RHEL.
