twm/.Xclients/.xsession
Good morning all,
Historically we've use twm in combination with the .xsession and .Xclients file for a specific user account that is almost a kiosk setup. This user (known as operator on our system) does not get any desktop environment or privileges at all. We source the .xsession file at login then launch twm and our own software full screen. In fact the only reason we even use twm is so we have basic window management for our pop ups and dialogs. When the user quits our software we pkill twm and they are logged out.
twm appears to be gone in RHEL7 and I don't see any alternatives. Using the custom session in the gnome login doesn't get me there either. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to get this configuration working. I know desktop environments have advanced significantly in the last 30 years but twm works perfect for what we need. Having a desktop environment for this particular user is very undesirable and we can't require the user to have to click anything to launch the application. We want it stupid and simple.
Can anyone offer some advice on how to accomplish this?
thanks,
-brian
