Jboss EAP 6.4 Management Console Input Encryption

Latest response

Is there a way to enable encryption so that passwords entered in the Web Console are automatically encrypted? I am looking for reasons to run my configurations in domain mode and use the console to maintain my instances. This seemed like a plus because I wouldn't have much to do in terminal for maintenance. However, I realized that passwords were being stored in plain text. I learned about Vault but that creates alot more backend work every time I setup an environment having to manually enter the passwords that I want encrypted and then input the encryption vaultblock and key to the console. It just seems messy. I wondered if I was missing something. Is encryption not a built in feature? Will it be in 7?

I don't think there is another way to do this in EAP 6. Other than automating (Ansible/Script?) the setting up of the environment. As for EAP 7 I'd raise a support case and ask about this feature, it's possible it could be added to the roadmap if the Support Team raise a feature request for you :)
