PTP support is available in kernel 2.6.35 or not

Latest response

Hi

As per the documentation, the PTP Hardware Clock (PHC) subsystem was merged into Linux version 3.0.
I would like to know whether PTP is supported on kernel 2.6.35 or not. Is there any patch is available which we need to apply to make it work?

Thanks,
Prashant

As I understand it, you need to be using 3.0 or later to get the API for PTP.

If you need to use 2.6.53, you could try backporting the 3.0 patches to 2.6.35.

We have already done this work on our 2.6.32-based RHEL6, PTP support is available from RHEL 6.5 (kernel 2.6.32-431.el6) and onwards.

Jamie, Thanks for the information. Can you please let me know the location from where I an download the 3.0 patches and what all changes are required to make it work in 2.6.35 kernel? -Prashant
