How do I setup VNC based on xinetd with XDMCP for GDM? RHEL7

Latest response

I have followed the instructions given in the Knowledgebase Solutions at https://access.redhat.com/node/2516 without success. When I ssh into the server and execute:

$ vncviewer localhost:5952 &

the display hangs with this message:

Fri Jan 29 15:26:21 2016
CConn: connected to host localhost port 5952
CConn: End of stream

but over in /var/log/messages

Jan 29 15:30:12 cs xinetd[1812]: START: vnc pid=15987 from=::1
Jan 29 15:30:12 cs kernel: Xvnc[15987]: segfault at 0 ip 0000000000527267 sp 00007ffe931dfac0 error 4 in Xvnc[400000+238000]
Jan 29 15:30:12 cs xinetd[1812]: EXIT: vnc signal=11 pid=15987 duration=0(sec)

Having Xvnc dropping core is an unexpected result. Any ideas?

I am seeing the same thing

Do you have X Forwarding enabled on your SSH client? I imagine the disconnect is happening as the vncviewer cannot connect to any display. So I think either X Forwarding is what you'll need or

vncviewer server:5952 &

"or ..." what? X forwarding is enabled.

X Forwarding is enabled on both the client and server? The 'or' was running vncviewer directly to the server you are trying to VNC to, without SSH'ing to the server first.
