When running some commands, it hangs and does not return to command prompt: ( df, sync, ls /, etc..

I have been restart the daemon and I check with .etc/mtab file as well. user not able to access the mount point from another server.

Please, provide more information about the problem.

Just guessing here, but could it perhaps be an issue related to the NFS share becoming unavailable while mounted? That usually results in long delays. The solution to that is to do a 'lazy' unmount:

umount -l /your/mountpoint
