rhel server 7 install could not see disk array

it did not detect the presence of the disk array though the array was created with hp smartStart and the array of 8TB was used by ubuntu and suse and windows but rhel could not see it.
anyone with this experience and a solution please advise.

Not sure if you have the same problem as I did several months ago with HP Dynamic Smart Array B140i SATA RAID Controller.

a) Mount RHEL 7.1 ISO as Image File CD-ROM/DVD.

b) Make sure to enable Virtual Install Disk in RBSU.

c) Rename hpdsa-1.2.4-140.rhel7u1.x86_64.dd into hpdsa-1.2.4-140.rhel7u1.x86_64.img and mount as Virtual Image File (Removable Media)

d) Check in One-Time Boot that both are recognised in uEFI boot menu.

e) Append the following on linuxefi line:

modprobe.blacklist=ahci inst.dd

f) When prompted, select driver to install:

/media/DD/rpms/x86_64/kmod-hpdsa-1.2.3-140.rhel7u1.x86_64.rpm

g) During build, you will see HP Logical Volume that you can partition and use...

I am in the process to automate the whole process via Kickstart in next two months when I get new HP Gen9 and 10 blade servers.

By the way, I complained to HP that they should release Branded RHEL 7.1 ISO image like they do for VMware ESXi. HP declined! Very disappointing and lack of respect for customers' needs.

In my experience, blacklisting ahci was not enough. I also needed to blacklist hpsa. If hpsa is allowed to "own" or 'take control" of the block devices early in the init process, then hpdsa will not be able to function properly.

Note: This process worked fine for the install, but once the host was deployed and the kernel was upgraded to the latest rev in RHEL repos, data corruption occurred. This was caused by hpdsa -- not -- being included in the upgraded kernel. Normally, this wouldn't be cause for concern as one would simply include the hpdsa module into the new initramfs and reboot -- but -- the new kernel will still boot and find/use the non-raid /dev/sda which is a 'fake raid" member disk and not the RAID'd LUN you want to use thus resulting in data corruption.

Note: IIRC, the hpdsa only supports 2 kernel versions. Needless to say, the latest rev is not supported.
