no console access on vsphere client v5.5

init start up only gets so far, then nothing is display on the console. Nor keyboard interaction is available.

I am not sure where to start to troubleshoot. I do have ssh access via putty.

So it sounds like init doesn't finish at all? If that is the case, where does it stop?

Also if you can ssh in, check to see if there are sessions that are hung.

I know that if I try to console in to one of our RHEL servers from vSphere and all I get is a black screen with no keyboard/no mouse, typically there is a hung user session.

I think the problem may be I am missing the "desktop group" maybe more.

I just read an article to alt/ctr/f2, sure enough i finally have text prompt. If i try the same thing w/f4 to initiate gui, nothing happens.

I'm just happy I have text!
