UCARP Daemon Stops when Network interface goes down on RHEL 6.6 Vcloud director

We are installing ucarp-1.5.2-8.el6.x86_64 on RHEL 6.6 64-bit platfrom. When I am starting the Ucarp on one machine it take the Virtual IP on the configured Network interface. But when I run the ifdown interface_name on that machine then it stops the Ucarp daemon and IP switches to the another machine.

I am wondering why the ucarp daemon is stopping with the network interface goes down. Kindly suggest what can be done to make it working on the above configuration.
