RHEL for a beginner.

Latest response

Got a Little confused when I was about to download and install RHEL workstation 7.2. Is the RHEL 7.2 beta binary DVD complete or should I also install Supp 7.2 Beta Binary DVD ?

Can't see any description of "Boot ISO", "Supp ... " and "Binary DVD"

Hi Dag,

First of all, the 7.2 version is a 'Beta' release, i.e. it's not yet finalized, and not suitable for other than testing use.

The 'Binary DVD' is sufficient for installation. The 'Supp'(lementary) DVD contains additional software. The 'Boot ISO' is only a basic system that lets you install from other sources, such as from the network. Generally, if you're a "beginner", you don't want beta releases.

Ok, I will switch to the 7.1 instead. Still haven't received my ordered license but I assume I can register that after install ?

See this solution article. You may need the base RHEL repo for dependencies.
