I have a working Satellite 6.1.2 system that is only used for Patching where do I start to add puppet abilities

I have a working Satellite 6.1.2 system running on Redhat 7.1. All I have ever used it for is Patching. Now I would love to start using puppet to start controlling system files on my machines.
Where do I start with this and what documentation lays out the steps to be successful? I do not have a multi-location enviorment. Everything is on one machine and one Organization and one location. So it should be simple but I have found that the documentation people do not start simple but instead document systems that contain 7,000 Organizations and 10,000 locations as a basis for their documentation. They have not used the system "just documented it and they will come".

So any pointers on how to start from the most simple example of controlling /etc/motd to get started.
