There was an error attaching your selected subscription(s). Please try again later.

Dear community members,

When I try to attach a 30 Day Self-Supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux Developer Workstation Evaluation subscription to my sole system I get the error:
"There was an error attaching your selected subscription(s). Please try again later."
I have been trying for more than 1 day, that's why I believe this is an error.
Without this step completed, I can't register my rhel 7.1 workstation properly an get the required updates.

When I try to attach the workstation via subscription-manager-gui I get the error:
Error getting subscription: You must first accept Red Hat's Terms and conditions. Please visit https://www.redhat.com/wapps/ugc

Condition:
This is a fresh install in a laptop

I already tried:
subscription-manager attach --auto
subscription-manager remove --all
subscription-manager unregister
subscription-manager clean
subscription-manager register
subscription-manager register --autosubscribe

Many thanks in advance
Pedro

Pedro,

This is a discussion forum, for these urgent matters it is best to open a support case.

Evaluation subscriptions come with support, if I am not mistaken.

It would very bad, if the community cannot advise you before the evaluation period would be over.

Kind regards,

Jan Gerrit

Hello

Is it working now?

You did not say if you tried to register on the command line after you had logged into your account to accept the terms and conditions.

Can you let us know what procedure you are following? For example, are you following the System Administrator's Guide Registering the System and Managing Subscriptions?

Once you get the registration sorted out, I suggest you disable all repos and then re-enable only those you are sure you need. For example:

1] disable all existing repositories:

# subscription-manager repos --disable "*"

2] Open the repository file in the /etc/yum.repos.d/ directory and enable the ones you are sure you need.

BTW, its worth bookmarking this page Subscription overview. It is sometimes useful to check the links and guides there when dealing with subscription management problems.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for your help. I tried to register on the gui in the first place. When it didn't work I read the manual.
That led me to the subscription-manager in the terminal.

I believe that everything was done properly, because the workstation appears in Subscriptions>Subscription Management>Units
when I click in the unit name I get a details page (Subscription Management>Units>ws.localdomain) that has a footnote information label saying that: "You are not currently using any subscriptions for this Physical System.".
I click in: "Attach a subscription" . It appears a windows with a check box in front of the subscription, I select the subscription and click Attach Selected.
after all this appears the error : "There was an error attaching your selected subscription(s). Please try again later."

Today I am finalizing some work at my job, because next week I will attend to the RHCSA.

I would like to have redhat installed to pratice the course exercises, instead one of the community distros redhat based.

I will return to this subject next monday.

Thank you again
Pedro

I was expecting for a carburetor diaphragm spring that didn't arrive. So ...
The "thing" was itching me

Solved:

I connected the workstation via wifi to the internet.
And prior to that I was able to attach the subscription.

cat /etc/yum.repos.d/redhat.repo
    was an empty file
# subscription-manager refresh
    populated the redhat.repo
# yum

Thank you Stephen,
Pedro
