Any recommendations on vMotion a Red Hat VM from one enviornment to another?

I'm in the process of gathering information on using VMWare vMotion to move a Red Hat VM from our production to development environment.

I've found their best practices document, however I wanted to see what others were do to prep for the process and things to look our for.
