email client for rhel 7.0

Latest response

Does an email client distributed and supported by Redhat exist ? I've noted that rh no longer distributes the Mozilla Thunderbird email client.

Responses

Both Thunderbird and Evolution are supplied in the Optional Channel.

Thanks very much ...

Hello

I do not think Evolution is in the Optional channel:

# yum provides evolution
evolution-3.8.5-21.el7.i686 : Mail and calendar client for GNOME
Repo        : rhel-7-workstation-rpms

The System Administrator's Guide briefly mentions Evolution under Mail User Agents

It is available from the optional repo if your subscription is a "server" type:

$ sudo yum provides evolution
evolution-3.8.5-21.el7.i686 : Mail and calendar client for GNOME
Repo : rhel-7-server-optional-rpms

evolution-3.8.5-21.el7.x86_64 : Mail and calendar client for GNOME
Repo : rhel-7-server-optional-rpms

Actually, a 'yum list' command is better (to just show the latest) :

$ sudo yum list evolution
evolution.i686 3.8.5-31.el7 rhel-7-server-optional-rpms
evolution.x86_64 3.8.5-31.el7 rhel-7-server-optional-rpms

Thank you for that tip

Before subscribing to the Optional and Supplementary channels see the Scope of Coverage Details. If you decide to install packages from these channels, follow the steps documented in the article called How to access Optional and Supplementary channels, and -devel packages using Red Hat Subscription Manager (RHSM)?.

You can install using this command

yum install evolution --enablerepo=rhel-7-server-optional-rpms

Thanks man!!! :)
