Migration from RHN to subscription manager caused a minor issue

Latest response

I migrated my RHEL-6 (server) machine from classic RHN to subscription manager by following https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Subscription_Management/1/html/MigratingRHN/index.html . All went fine, but as soon as the migration finished, I started seeing the following line in /var/log/messages:

abrt: detected unhandled Python exception

The above abrt line appears in /var/log/messages exactly every 2 minutes. No other lines are seen. No useful information to debug with. Other than that, the system has been running with no apparent issues.

I found the cause and here post it for future searchers.

The referenced message was coming from a cron job, rhn-virtualization.cron, that was being run every 2 minutes. I deleted it and 'yum remove'd rhn-virtualization-host and all was well.

The bottom line is that the migration utility should have checked the presence of this package and deleted it if found. This would save some users from hours of head scratching.
